Did you know Pat Landergin (the original owner of 1600 S. Polk, 1914) was President of the 4th annual Panhandle State Fair in 1916. At that time the Fair took place at Glenwood Park, an early amusement park east of Llano Cemetery. The fair closed from 1917 to 1921 due to World War 1. When the Amarillo Tri-State Fair opened again in 1923 it was chartered to serve as a permanent regional fair for Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma.
In 1927, Pat Landergin was President of the Panhandle Livestock Association. On this day 98 years ago, Pat set a meeting with the Panhandle Livestock Association and invited every cattleman in the Southwest to come to the Amarillo Tri State Fair on Monday September 12, 1927 for a meeting. Pat wanted the cattlemen and farmers to collaborate and to share their successes and ideas with one another. Pat would pass 2 years later in 1929. Pat Landergin will forever be remembered as a respected businessman, philanthropist and cattleman.
