A real story about a group of Marines mostly from support services in the USMC Reservist thrown into an ad hoc combat formation, so, prevalent in Iraq in the early years. This platoon paid a heavy price that US Marines have paid in places like Belleau Wood, Tarawa, Korea, Hue City and Iraq.
"I don't know how Watkins didn't die. Somebody blew him up and shot him at the same time — then he sat in the back of that 7-ton stuffing gauze into his own open-cavity wound."
Sergeant Randall Watkins flatlined on the operating table that night. But before that — lying in the rubble with shrapnel in his shoulder and two rounds stopped by his body armor — he emptied his magazine at the muzzle flashes around him, unable to reload, and waited for the enemy bullet that would end his life.
His story, and the men who fought to save him, is now live on Battlesight Zero.
