ADVOCATE FOR THE Juneau-Douglas City Museum by June 8! See the Friends of The Juneau-Douglas City Museum post to learn how.

The City and Borough of Juneau Douglas currently plans to cut the museum staff from 3.75 employees to 1.75 employees—removing the Museum Director and Curator of Public Programs and Education. The museum—which holds ~100,000 collections, develops and opens 8-12 new exhibits a year, provides economic benefits to local artists through gift shop sales, and hosts over 200 programs a year that serve over 4,000 people of all ages in addition to welcoming over 40,000 visitors every year—will only have a Curator of Collections and Exhibits and a .75 administrative assistant. This will effectively shut down the museum.

If you live in Juneau or Douglas or have other ties to the museum, please write a letter to explain the importance of a fully staffed museum in meeting mission and remaining open and available to the public. You can also sign up to testify on Monday, June 8 via Zoom or in person.
