It is time! 🖼️ Our April First Friday art reception for is happening this week.
Laura Dewey has had a life long interest in art. Growing up in downtown Anchorage, she has always been inspired by the natural beauty of Southcentral Alaska. After leaving the state to study art at the University of Oregon and spending a few more years on various adventures, Laura returned to Alaska permanently in 2012. During this time Laura worked many different jobs (including a job at Dos Manos!) while always pursuing painting on the side.
In 2020 Laura relocated to Sterling, Alaska and started painting full time. Laura spends her days living and working in a cabin on the outskirts of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. When she’s not painting, you can find her cooking, gardening, hiking with her two dogs, wandering a beach, or fishing on the river. Her brightly colored paintings convey dramatic landscapes, favorite outdoor memories and familiar scenes from Laura’s life in Alaska.
‘My paintings are created with many thin, wet layers of brightly colored paint. I am interested in replicating the contrast of wildness and pattern that I see in nature.
