The Wilson Gallery & BSA Presents "The Familial Gaze" by Tyanna Buie. Opening event is Friday, January 24 from 6-8 pm. The artist's talk will begin at 7.

Tyanna showcases largescale images that expose her family polaroid’s and elementary school photographs which she re-creates as screen-printed monotypes. These prints allow the artist to re-visit and revive her previous impressions of intimate moments in her life during the late 1960’s through the early 1990’s. The outcome is a celebration of family dynamics through photography and the African American experience.

The showcase will be open until April 3rd. You can come see it anytime in the Krannert Fine Arts Center Monday-Friday from 9-4 pm.

The Jessie C. Wilson Gallery and the Indiana Faith and Writing Conference are co-sponsoring an exhibit exploring and celebrating the expressive elements of both visual imagery and written word. The gallery showcases artist books from a collaborative project from Boston University’s MFA program. This annual pairing of painters and poets produced handmade books in which the forms of poetry and art are given equal expression and care.
Poet David Wright spoke at the opening event. His poetry can be found in numerous journals, including 32 Poems, Image, Hobart,
Poetry East, Rock & Sling, and Crab Orchard Review. Later this year, Virtual Artist Collective will publish his third book of poems, Local Talent.
