If you haven't checked out the work of our newest member, Jean Vascencellos, you should. Think how a beautiful table runner would add to your table, or how warm a new cap would keep you in the coming cold weather. The flower is a real eye catcher.

The High Country Basketry Guild, a member guild of Artisans United, was pleased to participate in the Juneteenth Celebration at First Baptist Church in Vienna, VA. The Basketry Guild’s booth included a display of baskets that used a variety of styles and materials. Guild member, Alice Plett demonstrated the process of basketweaving by assembling the various stages of a small napkin basket—a base, the woven sides, and the finished basket. The Guild’s booth attracted lots of visitors and, they and we hope, created interest in the craft of basketweaving

The only thing hotter than the outdoors is the beautiful crafts at our new show. We currently feature work by the Waterford Weavers Guild that includes decorative and wearable items produced using a variety of techniques and materials. And, of course, we have many new hand-crafted items created by our local artists. Below are some of them with more to come in the following days. We provide socially distanced shopping, virtual tour shopping, payment by phone, and drive-by pickup. Home delivery may be available. Please call to find out.

While not as good news as the new J&J vaccine, we do want to let you know that the Gallery’s March-April show opens Saturday, March 6th. Two of the highlights of the show will be the work of our newest member, Marilu Del Carpio, and a number of pieces from members of the Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild (NVHG).

Marilu is originally from Peru and, upon retirement, discovered the joy of jewelry making. She works mostly with wire (coiling, bending, knitting, crochet, weaving, and macramé) but, also challenges herself doing Kumihimo, stamping, and cold connections.

Her inspiration often comes from the materials that she uses, as well as her cultural background, evidenced thru the replication of Inka tools, shapes, and textiles and her travels, seen in the use Celtic and Chinese symbols after visits to Ireland and China. (See below)

NVHG, one of our member guilds, represents an eclectic mix of local artist representing of 11 craft areas. You are sure to find many pieces you will treasure from these artists.
PLEASE NOTE OUR NEW HOURS: Tuesday – Saturday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
