Tyger Tyger is an online Contemporary Fine Art Gallery that was once housed in the River Arts District in Asheville, North Carolina until it was completely flooded in fall 2024 in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

🚨Only a few hours left - Bidding ends TONIGHT at 8PM❣️

6 months ago, Hurricane Helene flooded the River Arts District where Tyger Tyger Gallery was located along the French Broad River. In the days of the aftermath, friends and volunteers worked together to save as many artworks as they could.

Our current Online Art Auction is selling all of the remaining artworks that were salvaged from the flood, and they have been deeply discounted to make them affordable for those who want to collect them and be a part of the cause to continue Asheville’s recovery. Among those who helped us pull these artworks out of the mud to safety was our friends at . 20% of proceeds are being donated to Center for Craft to thank them for their critical help in transporting and storing many of our salvaged materials and supplies in the wake of the flood. In turn and with your support, we want to help them continue their own mission of supporting and providing resources for artists.

𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘢𝘭𝘭 (2021) by 💦 ✨ 🌊 altered by flood waters (2024) 💧 >>> Swipe to the end to see images of the piece in its original state

𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘢𝘭𝘭 may be one of Barry Hazard’s most delightfully North Carolina-esque wall sculptures. It floated, in its original box, out of the gallery and down the French Broad River during Hurricane Helene. Covered in flood mud, it was miraculously recovered and returned back to us safely intact. We were astonished to discover that the two impossibly miniature figures were still standing at the edge of the waterfall - this time as if they were taking in the real-life devastation of the aftermath of the flood. With the artist’s endorsement, we are keeping it as is, its tiny figures bearing witness to what we endured here in Asheville.

Hazard’s “sculpture-paintings” form a semi-fictional dioramic catalog of humanity’s complex relationship with the environment through the lens of our shared affection for wide-open spaces. The story of this piece re-contextualizes its imagery to embody and record the shock and amazement of witnessing this natural disaster that has so drastically and indelibly changed our Western North Carolina landscape.

𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘢𝘭𝘭 is included in our upcoming online art auction, and we hope to find it a new home with people who will cherish it for the very special work of art that it is.

❣️We will be donating 20% of proceeds from this auction to , an organization close to our hearts. The Center for Craft is a vital force in the region with tens of thousands of dollars given to craft artists affected by Hurricane Helene. They also showed up at Riverview Station with hands-on help in the days after the flood, for which we and other artists and galleries in the building are eternally grateful for.

Our Valentine’s Day auction was a smashing success, resulting in a donation check written for over $10,000 to ! 💞🎉 We are deeply grateful for the amazing turnout and for all of our sponsors and friends who helped us make it such a special night.

People got some great deals on the donated art - and in fact, we had a few left, along with more art than could fit on the walls of our pop-up space. 📣 We are thrilled to announce that we are releasing a “Part 2” art auction - this one is online only, so you can bid from anywhere! 💫

Home, Health, Equity, and Opportunity.

These are the fundamental focus areas of , a community-based organization centered on the belief that we can do far more together than we can do alone.

We are in awe of their massively scaled crisis response in the flood aftermath, their first newly near-completed BeLoved Villages community of deeply affordable homes, (with a second village to come), the sheer volume of food given out at their main distribution center, their mobile food truck, and their multi-faceted, demonstrated commitment to equity, intersectionality, and diverse community.

Join us this Valentine’s Day at our Pop-Up Art Auction in support of BeLoved Asheville and all they do. We are donating all profits to them and keeping only what we need to cover our operating costs.
