Friends of Farmington Christian Church will meet on Saturday, June 27, at 10:00 a.m. at the Atchison County Historical Society.

Anyone interested is invited to join us for a special presentation by Professor Caleb May of Manhattan Christian College.

Professor May, who shares his name with Atchison County pioneer and statesman Caleb May, will be calling in to discuss Pardee Butler and the Butler family's lasting contributions to the Christian faith and to the college.

Just a note of reminder. Tomorrow night Tuesday June 9 at 6pm will be our regualr monthly meeting in the depot. Following the business meeting we will hear a presentation on Gov John A Martin by Larry Grantham. Should be very interesting. Hope you can come.

Today we received an artifact from the WWI era. It is a picture book from Camp Funston near Wamego KS in 1918.

There are still flags available at the Depot, and local businesses. Get yours and decorate your front yard on the big day.

This group of school photos are from the independence Valley J-3-50 District.

We received a large collection of school photos (over 100) to scan for our collection. The orginals were returned to the owner. Here are the ones from the Huron-J44 District. They were taken in the late 1950's.

We have seen several newspaper article that make reference to a location called the "Float." It seems it is somewhat related to the Curlew area of the county. A 4-H club was named the Float and a school was called the Float School.

Can anyone tell us what the reference means or what the location is that uses this term?
