Studio 905 on Juniper: Midtown’s Latest Creative Venue- A labor of love launched for working artists from local Midtown Atlanta residents Adriana & Al Thumann. 109. is the daughter of Colombian Poet, Radio Celebrity and owner of once known Jet24 Airlines out of Miami and Italian mother with artist and architect lineage. Known for sensual flower (Yellow Wave, White Flower, and Yellow Venus) and religious referenced paintings (Father Why Have You Forsaken Me and God’s Tear To Earth) Adriana desired to open a studio and gallery in Midtown where she and other Artist could work, display work and collaborate, splitting a percentage of art sales from the work. Studio 905 on Juniper has several studios for painters, a private studio and area for a photographer, framer or craft artist. There is also a larger studio to be rented for photo shoots. When rented, artists are enrolled in an artist guild celebrating these artists in several major markets in the United States and a gallery network. Adriana’s work is inspired by master artist Thomas Hooper, Frida Kala, Georgia O’Keef, and Van Gogh and will be on display with the private nature collection of photography from Al inspired by noted photographers Ansel Adams and Peter Lik. Al’s masterpieces have graced the walls of corporations. Al was born in the Bronx and sojourned to Atlanta and has lived for the past 35 years. As a leading authority on energy and environment Al became an established author of more than 25 works of energy. Al’s passion for photography began when he, as a youngster, invented a portable dark room. Studio 905 on Juniper (404-432-0073) will also feature theme events for Atlantans to enjoy. First, at the studio’s grand opening on Friday April 5th from 6pm until 10pm is an exhibition entitled Traveling Souls. The rest of the opening dates are as follows, Saturday April 6th 11am until 5pm, Sunday April 7th Noon until 5pm and Monday April 8th through Thursday 18th by appointment only (404-432-0073). Souls, curated by Felix Berroa, have been on display at major cultural venues throughout Georgia such as the Abernath Art Center and the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts and celebrates Hispanic-American artists from eleven Caribbean and Latin countries.

“Three Dreamlike Expressions”

On Friday, June 12th, Studio 905 on Juniper will host a series of collections by artists Felix Berroa, Brikena Boci and Ray Vargas.
This exhibition will be more than a simple matter of taste, but rather the collective tastes of three artists from the Dominican Republic, Albania and Cuba. As you peruse the gallery you will see their individual styles that is the result of artists expressing themselves in ways that convey meaning and values within their culture.

Felix Berroa was born in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic and has a degree in Fine Arts from the National School of Fine Arts in Santo Domingo. His worked is exhibited at The Museum of Modern Art of the Dominican Republic, Istitute of Cultural and Arts in Puerto Rico, Islip Art Museum and Nassau County Museum of Art in Long Island, NY and the Mariata Cobb Art Museum among others.

Brikena Boci is a working artist living in Atlanta, GA. She was born in Vlore, Albania but moved to the USA in 2003 to pursue a BA of Art from Western Michigan University where she graduated with honors in 2006. She then relocated to Illinois to further her education in art at Northern Illinois University, where she graduated with a Masters of Fine Arts in 2010.

Rey Vargas was born in Havana and graduated from the La Escuela De Bellas Artes San Alejandro in Havana in 1981. From 1981 to 1984, he taught drawing in La Casa De La Cultura while he worked for a cinematography company in Havana as a poster designer. In 1993, he was invited by French government to exhibit his work in Fort-de-France. From there his international journey lead him to Europe, where he lived for four years in Paris. Rey currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
