Brickworks Gallery

Brickworks Gallery Brickworks Gallery is a studio and gallery space owned and operated by artist, Laura W. Adams. The Brickworks Gallery was founded in 2016 by Laura W. The B.

Adams, an artist herself, has shown her work for 25 years in galleries and exhibitions across the country. Brickworks Gallery is dedicated to showcasing the work of Adams and a select group talented and inspired artists whose work tells compelling stories. The artists come from all walks of life, but they have this trait in common: their work is a finely crafted expression of their lives and life

experiences. Brickworks Gallery is located in an historic industrial-era building on the fabulous Atlanta Beltline. Mifflin Hood Brick Co. building, at 686-A Greenwood Avenue in the Virginia Highland neighborhood, has been refurbished and brought back to life as a gallery and meeting place. The gallery is a 5 minute walk north on the Beltline from Ponce City Market, and a 5 minute walk down the Beltline from the south-east corner of Piedmont Park. The gallery currently is open only by appointment.

A Chimera is in the house!
This dynamic and amazing painting was created by my talented friend and neighbor,
He was inspired by my own recent metamorphosis into a Chimera- a term my doctors use to describe my two sets of DNA post stem cell transplant. I now have the DNA of my young German male donor in my bone marrow and blood, and my old DNA in the rest of me.
In Ancient Greek mythology, a Chimera was a fire-breathing lioness with a goat’s body and a serpent’s tail. A fearsome creature indeed!
Thank you, - delighted to be your muse!

Repost :
An avid bird watcher and hiker for many years, Laura Adams is inspired by the collages of Matisse, the watercolors of Audubon, the colorful mosaics and paintings of Klimt and the sense of self and purpose of O’Keeffe.

Her artistic process is unique, using only paper and a clear acrylic glue to create her work. She does not use paint. Her favorite papers are the beautiful Japanese washi papers that are used for origami. But also colorful bookbinding papers from Italy and textured fibrous papers from Mexico.

Experience the work of the amazing paper collage artist Laura Adams in a special exhibit in the Upper Lodge.

Repost regarding last night’s book talk by my husband, .feiler: Thank you to former President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush, and so many Dallas civic leaders, for joining last night in a substantive discussion about Rosenwald schools and the resonance of history.

Julius Rosenwald and Booker T. Washington reached across divides of race, religion, and region and fundamentally changed this nation for the better. They remind us that education has been the on-ramp to the American middle class for all Americans, that education is liberation, and that, as the great John Lewis said, education is the cornerstone of democracy.

The Rosenwald schools collaboration, bringing together Black communities and white school boards, also shows us that philanthropy, government, and public/private partnerships can all be a forces for good. The dignity of every individual is to be cherished and uplifted. Being good, kind, and compassionate matters. Being engaged in our democracy matters. Finding common ground matters. Leadership matters.

“A Better Life for Their Children” opens tonight at the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museums. On view through 8/17/25.

2025 is almost here! February 13-16 I will be back in Charleston for my 12th SEWE exhibition. This year, I’m bringing friends from my southeastern homeland, and some new friends from my travels in Alaska and beyond. Here are some of the faces of the critters joining me on my trek. I hope to see you there!

In tribute to winter and a snowy holiday season, a recent piece just finished in anticipation of , “Northern Hawk-owl”. We met this beauty in Arctic Alaska last August , hunting along the Dalton Highway. They hunt primarily by sight and in daylight, but have been known to hear and find prey under a foot of snow! Merry Christmas, fierce little one!

Well, that didn’t last long! I just completed this Arctic Snowshoe Hare collage yesterday. Some lovely clients, picking up a Lilac-breasted Roller commission from me, decided to add this on to their Christmas gift to each other. So now this handsome bunny has a beautiful new home! Life will be sweet for this big-footed herbivore.
