"Bloom" now on view at Gallery Walk at Terminus until August!

The emergence of spring feels especially meaningful this year. The trees and flowers are blossoming out of their winter dormancy in a way that almost mirrors our own emergence from the COVID pandemic. Life is beginning to feel normal again after over two years of uncertainty. As a result, the natural world somehow seems strikingly more beautiful. This exhibition celebrates the spring time blooming of plant life, but to me, it symbolizes the rebirth of life for society as well. The world is coming back to life in spectacular fashion much like the artwork in this exhibition.

This past year of the pandemic has had the majority of us spending a great deal of time at home. Whether we are working from home, schooling from home or home with nothing to do, many of us are contemplating our surroundings more than ever. In thinking about this moment, I have been drawn to artwork relating to home and all that it represents. From the simple outline of a house to a detailed drawing of a kitchen table, many artists produce beautiful work that examines and depicts a sense of home. This exhibition brings together a grouping of artworks that reflects the state of mind of all of us that have become home bodies this year.

"Rivers and Tides"
October 12, 2020 – January 21, 2021 Our region is blessed to have easy access to rivers, lakes and the ocean. Atlantans in particular are drawn to the respite that these water ways provide - a refuge from the challenges of modern life. The presence of water can dramatically reduce stress and reconnect us with the earth. This connection is the source of inspiration for many artists. Capturing the beauty and power of water is no easy task. How does one convey the rhythmic pulse of the ocean waves, the quiet trickle of a stream or the subtle beauty of morning light reflected upon the river? The artists in this exhibition are masters at not only depicting water but also in expressing the emotional and psychological impact it can have on us. I find a great deal of serenity and hope in these artworks and that seems necessary in the current chaos of our times.
