The Placer County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding those responsible for stealing gates from the Chinese Cemetery, located at Highway 49 and Edgewood Road in Auburn.

Sometime between 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 9 and 11 a.m. Sunday, June 10, suspects stole the two entry gates. Each gate is described as about 7½-feet wide and 5-6 feet tall. There were sheep grazing inside the fence for w**d abatement, and fortunately none of them escaped and wandered onto Highway 49 because an electric fence was used inside the cemetery.

Anyone with information is urged to call Detective Crawford at 916-625-2423. Anyone with information and wishing to remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward should contact Placer County Crime Stoppers at 800-923-8191, or online at tips.placercrimestoppers.com

The gates are shown here at an earlier date.
