We are thrilled that there are now new statues of Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass in the Maryland State House! Sculpted by StudioEIS, the statues were unveiled and dedicated yesterday. The statues show both Tubman and Douglass (who were both born in Maryland on the Eastern Shore) as they would have appeared in 1864, which is the year that Maryland lawmakers officially abolished slavery in Maryland.
