We are saddened to hear of the passing of Randy Lambeth, a beloved Augusta artist who documented many local landmarks—King Mill, Eve Street Market, Squeaky’s Tip-Top, and Café DuTeau, among numerous others—and painted the rural South with zest and skill.

His oils and watercolors have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the area and region, including the Arts & Heritage Center of North Augusta, the Sacred Heart Cultural Center, Art on Broad, 600 Broad Gallery, Manuel’s Bread Café, the Frame Shoppe, and the Pinnacle Club, among others.

The Jewish Patron Saint of the Arts, Nelson is a prominent local art collector, philanthropist, and photographer. Most importantly, he is our witty, lively, loyal friend.

As August draws to a close and September soon begins, we wanted to highlight a few works included in our exhibition “Dressed to Thrill: Sculpture by John Petrey”, that concludes today.

The board and staff of the Morris Museum of Art note with sadness the passing of a respected colleague and friend, Nancy J. Glaser, the much-honored director of the Augusta Museum of History. For many years, her knowledgeable, energetic leadership of a great local institution and her successful transformation of it into a true community resource have been a boon to Augusta and a model for museums of like type everywhere. The gift of her friendship was valued by many, and Augusta was made a better place by her presence. Her like will not pass this way again. 🕊️

Alex Foltz will paint a quick portrait as he chats about his work. He will choose a subject from the audience and demonstrate his amazing talent as we watch the finished image emerge.

Foltz works in oils, using the alla prima, or wet-on-wet, technique.
