We’re proud to announce the return of FRESH BLACK PAINT! Please join us for the opening reception this Saturday, March 28th, 7:00 PM at New East Arts Gallery, 1101 Navasota Street Suite 1.
Fresh Black Paint is a group exhibition featuring paintings by emerging American artist Caleb DeVaughn alongside Nigeria-based artists Joy Eyitayo Alagbe, Yomi Momoh, Adubi Mydaz-Makinde, Praise Sanni-Adeniyi and Yakubu Kareem! Presented in partnership with Kora Art Collective and co-curated by Pauline Nzeribe, Harold McMillan and Stacie Williams.
We’re lucky to have the incomparable DJ Santi playing music for us, and of course, complimentary wine and light bites. We hope you’ll be able to join us for the festivities!
Fresh Black Paint is a tradition at New East Arts Gallery recognizing the importance of celebrating African American heritage and the broader African diaspora not only during Black History Month but throughout the year. The exhibition brings together international artists whose work reflects global perspectives on identity, resilience, culture, and the evolving visual language of Black creativity.
This year’s exhibition presents work that reframes narratives around history, everyday life, and the enduring power of the Black spirit.
Based in Austin, Kora Art Collective is dedicated to elevating exceptional contemporary African art. Kora presents carefully curated works by emerging and mid-career artists on the continent and the diaspora, offering art enthusiasts, collectors, and institutions a refined pathway into one of today’s most vibrant global art movements.
