Join us on June 20, 2026 for the Carver's annual Remembrance Ceremony.

We must never forget the spirit and light of our fallen sisters, brothers, and non-binary community members. Through song, prayer, and meditation, we gather in solidarity to honor our Black ancestors and victims of violence in Texas. The Carver is a safe space for communal mourning and grieving as it relates to the ongoing fight for Black liberation.

* Attendees are strongly encouraged to wear all white or bright, neutral colors. *

This portion of the Carver Kickback will begin at 2:30 P.M. in the Boyd Vance Theatre and brings the day to a close with the ringing of the Freedom Bell.

The George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center is honored to present Seeing Further, a solo exhibition by Hakeem Adewumi.

In this semi-autobiographical exhibition, Adewumi brings together photography, sound, and found objects to explore layered expressions of Black memory, lineage, and liberation. This body of work encourages audiences to encounter fragments of ancestral life as they surface within the present as living, evolving forms. Seeing Further invites viewers into the personal histories, visual references, and lived experiences that have guided the artist toward a new and unfolding interpretation of Juneteenth.

Join us for an opening reception on Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 5-8pm. The exhibition is on view from May 14, 2026 to October 10, 2026. Free and open to all. Link below to RSVP.
