Austin's creative identity was built by artists, musicians, and cultural organizations. They have shaped this city’s character, brought its communities together, and put Austin on the map.
But talent alone can’t sustain an arts ecosystem. Artists need places to live, spaces to work, and the resources to keep creating. When artists can no longer afford to stay, Austin risks losing more than its creative workforce, we risk losing culture, connection, and a sense of place.
So, yes, affordable housing is arts infrastructure. So is investing in the spaces, resources, and opportunities that allow artists and cultural organizations to thrive.
At A3, we believe Austin’s creative future depends on the people who make it possible. Sustaining our arts ecosystem means making room for them, not just applauding what they create.
