Spooky season is officially here! 🎃 Fright at the Museum returns to Walking Mountains on Saturday, October 24th (12–4 PM)!

15 years ago, the Avon Tang Campus gave Walking Mountains a place to grow.
Since then, thousands of students have discovered the wonder of the natural world here. Families have explored. Scientists have studied. Community members have gathered. And so many people have found their own connection to this place.

The Walking Mountains Zero Waste Team works behind the scenes at the Vail Farmers’ Market to sort waste and keep as much as possible out of the landfill.

🧠 Did you know?! Avon has a Styrofoam densifier at the Town of Avon Recycling Center behind Home Depot! ♻️

The Walking Mountains Zero Waste Team recently stopped by to audit the densifier—and we’re sharing a few reminders about what belongs in it.

📦 YES: Clean, white, molded, TV-style Styrofoam packaging

🚫 NO: Colored foam, food-contaminated foam, packing peanuts, or other materials that don’t meet the requirements

♻️ Once densified and recycled, Styrofoam can be given a second life in products like surfboards, picture frames, and outdoor furniture.

🌎 Small sorting choices make a big difference. When in doubt, check before you toss!

Walking Mountains and the Climate Action Collaborative are providing limited-time free support to help property owners and HOAs navigate the electric vehicle (EV) charging installation process.

We provide:

•Free grant-writing assistance for the Colorado Charge Ahead grant
•One-on-one technical support
•Help applying for rebates and identifying other funding opportunities

Interested parties can complete the quick intake form (also available in Spanish) (link in bio).

Actively Green certified in 2025, the Vail Public Library is leading by example. Libraries are sustainability champions by nature. Every borrowed book means fewer new resources are needed. But Vail Public Library is taking it even further by:
📖 Offering a free book vending machine in the Vail Village Transportation Center to keep books circulating in the community
🛠️ Inspiring creativity through the Mountain Makerspace, where people can make, create, and learn together
♻️ Recycling RFID tags and exploring more sustainable library card options
