We will be open tomorrow, Sunday May 24th, from 2-4 pm for the summer season. Stop by and check out both our locations: Bad Axe Museum of Local History - 303 N. Port Crescent St & Log Cabin Village - 205 S. Hanselman St. We look forward to having you as our guest!
This Memorial Day Weekend - We want to thank those that made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the military. Thinking of them and their families. Thinking of Memorial Day and Memories, take a stroll down our engraved brick pavers to see names of people and businesses from our areas past and present. Located at the Bad Axe Museum of Local History.
We have been busy and have a lot planned for this year. One thing is a new display panel rack showing local history at our Bad Axe Museum of Local History. Like, follow and share us to keep updated on what is happening!

TBT - Interesting Newspaper article from 1987 about a wedding dress display at the Bad Axe Historical Society showing dresses spanning 100 years - from 1861 - 1962. This display was at their old location which was on the second floor of the old Bad Axe City Hall, which is now torn down.
On a side note, I recognize one of the phone numbers at the end of the article, My grandmothers - Fern Copeland 269-6506 who was a past president. Anyone know who was 269-8165.

TBT - 1937 photo of well-known local people of the day:
Wm. Schwalm, Nellie Allen, Bertha Plowe, Mable Collins, Mr. Pangborn (anyone know the first name?).
The picture is of them next to the First United Methodist Church of Bad Axe. The old Presbyterian Church is in the background on the far-right side.
FYI Nellie Allen was the wife of Wally Allen and mother of Thelma Allen. Thelma donated their family home and it is our Bad Axe Museum of Local History located at 303 N. Port Crescent St. in Bad Axe.

Great turnout of people interested in our local history. The program was on the fires of 1871 & 1881 that decimated our area. Many members of local Historical Societies and members of the public were present. If you are interested in local history, please reach out to your local historical society to see how you can participate or help them out! https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1DeF1svdo5/

We would like to thank the group 100 Women Who Care - Huron County Chapter for their generous donation! They donated $5100 to our Ullrich Log Home Roof Replacement Project. This was the largest project that we have done to date and we really appreciate their donation as well as everyone else’s donations, large or small.

Their group was so wonderful to work with. I am so impressed that we have a group of such caring women in our community that want to do great things for our county. This is a great organization and I would encourage any women out there that would like to be a part of this group of caring individuals to please contact them. If you have limited free time, this is a great group for you. They only meet 4 times a year for about ½ to 1 hour and if you can’t make the meetings, that is OK too. If there are any other charities or non-profit groups out there that would be interested in applying for their worthy project, please reach out to them. You can contact Joanne Schulte at 989-551-7787.

Pictured are L to R Stacie Schweitzer (100 Women Who Care), Robin Zurek (Bad Axe Historical Society), Connie Respondek (BAHS) and Rosemary Stuehmer (100WWC).
