There is an event coming up that is historical in nature. It is about fiber, wool and spinning but it also includes other homemade crafts also. Here are the details.

Tip of the Thumb Crafts and Fiber Festival in Port Hope on October 23 & 24. Free admission for the public and $65 for vendors.

Vendor Deadline is Oct. 19th!!!

We are open this weekend for Huron County Museum Weekend with Special Activities!!! The Bad Axe Pioneer Log Village will have a SPECIAL America 250 Michigan’s Thumb History Display! We will have some special Semi Quincentennial gifts to go along with this exhibit for youth. We will also have Blacksmith, Wool Spinning and Reed/Pump Organ Demonstrations. Old time games will also be offered. Participate and see how our cows are milked and shell some corn. Take pictures in our wood cut-outs…

We will also be selling Brand New In Box Christmas Trees as a fundraiser. They are all 75-80% OFF!!! Stop by, purchase a tree at a great price and help support our organization. Other merchandise will also be available and they make wonderful Christmas or other gifts: Bad Axe T’shirts, Coffee Mugs, Local History Books, Christmas Ornaments…

We are located at 205 S. Hanselman St and will be open Sat & Sun – Sept. 27 & 27 from Noon to 4 pm both days at both locations.

We are open this weekend for Huron County Museum Weekend with Special Activities!!! The Bad Axe Museum of Local History will have our Bad Axe Big Boy Statue available to see and take pictures with him. We will also have a special display of the History of the Big Boy Restaurant, history of the Big Boy Statue and older artifacts and pictures of the Bad Axe Big Boy Restaurant. We will also have available Big Boy images for people to color if they would like. See history on Governor Sleeper who lived in Bad Axe, President Nixon’s visit to Bad Axe, hear the unique song “I Found my Baby in Bad Axe” and see our updated Flip Panel Display of Local History.

While you are here, check out our new sign in the front lawn and the new back porch and steps that we recently completed. We stay busy making improvements to keep our buildings and property up for current and future generations to enjoy. In the backyard, you can see the 1900 era wood water pipes and history of the old swimming pool that was in Bad Axe in the backyard!

We are located at 303 N. Port Crescent St. and we will be open Sat & Sun – Sept. 27 & 27 from Noon to 4 pm both days at both locations.

Did you miss our Big Boy open house? Stop by today or next Sunday, September 6 between 2 and 4 PM to see our latest addition to our museum, the Bad Axe big boy statue. There’s also Big boy memorabilia and Big Boy history on display. Also stop by to hear the unique song “I found my baby in Bad Axe.“
This Sunday and next Sunday are the last two days of our regular season.
The Bad Axe big boy statue is at our Bad Axe Museum of local history at 303 N. Port Crescent St. Also visit our Pioneer Log Village located at 205 S. Hanselman St.
This is a great rainy, dreary day activity.

UPDATE! Due to high chance of rain, thunderstorm, possible heavy rain & hail concerns, we have made the decision to postpone our Big Boy Open House Event until tomorrow Sunday 8/23 from 1-4pm.
The forecast is much better for the public and we hope that you all can come and celebrate with us.

2026 Financial & Membership Campaign. We couldn't have done all the projects without the help of our community. Donations go toward our utilities and upkeep of our properties. We are an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff.
