As is common, we were searching through our archives for something else when we found this really neat immigration story from April 1, 1976. We particularly like the end where the student encouraged Americans to travel abroad and learn more about other cultures.

But if you can't afford to travel halfway around the world these days, try out some of the area festivals! The Brookdale Library in Brooklyn Center is having a Han Characters Festival on October 31 and the Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis is having a Dia de los Mu***os celebration on November 1st!

If anyone has been trying to email us over the last few days and haven't heard back, we apologize! We've been having some email issues (this is what happens when we try to be IT specialists with no proper training :O) and it's taken a bit to get everything back on track.

We just finished up a new 4-H display on our stairwell and we found this photo in one of our archive boxes. There's no date on it but it says "Helmer Hase (or Hose) pasture renovation demonstration" on the back of the photo and it looks like it could be from around the 1940s.

Come check out our new 4-H display along with a Boy Scouts and Campfire Girls display on the stairwell! We're open year round Wednesday - Friday 12:00 - 4:00 PM.

It's not Polk County but we found this neat postcard from (we think) the 1940s featuring the "largest glacial kettle pot hole" in Taylor's Falls. This one was 60 feet deep back then. Who knows how deep some of the pot holes go??
