Happy 80th birthday to the Bar Harbor Historical Society!

Thanks to the help and support of our members, board, staff, volunteers, visitors, and the local community, we’re proud to have built a non-profit organization that preserves the history of Bar Harbor. We can’t wait to continue the work of keeping Bar Harbor's history alive and to celebrate 80 more years!

Make sure to mark your calendars for October 4th for our joint birthday celebration with Friends of Acadia, who will be celebrating their 40th anniversary!

Set on Mount Desert Island in 1955, Reef Point offers an intimate, moving look at two women navigating profound personal and societal change in the aftermath of World War II and the devastating fire of 1947.
