Ivan joins long time friend and colleague bronze sculptor David Smus welcoming Maine’s Puffin Colony back to five Maine islands during ART Walk Bar Harbor TONIGHT as they share art and tales about the popular seabird. Puffins come home each spring to nest in Maine, the only US home to the iconic Atlantic Puffin.
Rasmussen’s “Homecoming” will be on display at Shaw Gallery, Northeast Harbor through June 19 and his colony of puffin watercolors will open at ART Walk on West, 78 West Street, Bar Harbor, June 7, 6 pm to 9 pm.
It was recently announced that guest artist sculptor David Smus was selected to create a Great Black Hawk in bronze to be displayed at Deering Oaks Park in Portland. Smus, who has previously created four bronze sculptures featuring the Atlantic Puffin, will be available to answer questions about Atlantic Puffins and the Great Black Hawk that visited Maine in late 2018 from its habitat in Central and South America.
