Tomorrow is the big day for the Wisconsin Archeological Society Fall 2022 Field Assembly (October 29, 2022, 10am - 3pm) at Natural Bridge State Park. We will be having 4 tours (11am, 12pm, 1pm and 2pm) that will each have an archaeologist, a geologist and a biologist/naturalist that will provide insight into this magnificent Wisconsin state park! Geology will be covered by Sarah Bremmer and Warren Mohar, archaeology by George Christiansen, Mark Bruhy, Katie Egan-Bruhy and James Theler and biology by Mike Mossman. In between tours, enjoy stone-tool making demonstrations, spear-throwing and artifacts/exhibits. The weather is supposed to be wonderful, so come on out! Remember, you must have a Wisconsin State Park Pass and you must either be a member of the Wisconsin Archeological Society or join at the Associate level ($10.00) http://wiarcheologicalsociety.org/membership. You can join at the event, but who wants to waste time doing that then !?!

The UW-Platteville Baraboo/Sauk County Archaeology Club will have our first meeting of the semester on Wednesday, February 17th at 3:30pm via Zoom. Please contact George W. Christiansen III for a link to the meeting.

The UW-Platteville Baraboo Sauk County Archaeology Club is getting organized for the Spring 2021 semester! The Archaeology Club was organized in 2011 and has been committed to providing archaeology-related experiences for students and the general public. Our meetings in the past have involved hands-on opportunities to work with ancient technologies (stone tool making, drilling, fire-starting, pottery making, etc.), watching documentaries and field trips to archaeological sites and museums in Wisconsin and Illinois. This semester we have some limitations with the pandemic but intend to continue our outdoor field trips and have at least one media night. If you have an interest in archaeology and anthropology and would like to join us virtually for the semester, please let us know!

In celebration of the Archaeology Club’s 10th year, we will be giving away the sport bag in the photo to one lucky attendee during the February 17th meeting! Hope to see you there!
