Shreveport-Bossier City has officially been named a 2026 Great American Defense Community — one of only three communities in the entire United States to receive this prestigious national recognition this year. 👏

✈️Teamwork, hard work, and perfect timing! 🇺🇸 The Haughton High School Junior ROTC joined us for the Adopt-A-Plane Progam, helping wash our B-17 just before the rain rolled in. TSgt Bankson led the group through the wash and provided a hands-on look at the Adopt-A-Plane program, followed by a museum tour led by SMSgt Fitzgerald.

Thank you to these incredible students and to there sponsor, retired Colonel Tony Zucco for bringing them out each year. We truly appreciate your continued support!

This past week, the Barksdale community came together in a powerful show of remembrance and unity as they honored the life and legacy of SrA Bryan R. Bell during the Memorial 5K.

Participants gathered not only to run, but to reflect—sharing stories, support, and a deep sense of connection. A meaningful portion of the route carried runners through the Airpark, where the backdrop of historic aircraft served as a poignant reminder of service, sacrifice, and the enduring mission SrA Bell was a part of.

From fellow Airmen and leadership to families and community members, the event was a heartfelt tribute—one that honored a life of dedication while strengthening the bonds of those who continue the mission each day.

Three snapshots, one incredible mission. 🇺🇸✈️

This Saturday, our amazing Airmen rolled up their sleeves for our Adopt-a-Plane wash, giving the mighty B-52G some well-deserved shine! We couldn’t be more proud of the dedication, teamwork, and pride they bring—volunteering their time to help preserve these historic aircraft for all to enjoy.

This is just the beginning! Throughout the spring and summer, all of our static display aircraft will be getting the same care and attention, and we’re so excited to see them looking their best for our visitors.
