The Barnwell County Museum Invites The Public To An Afternoon Of History as we celebrate and observe the 250th anniversary of our country’s freedom, on Sunday, June 14, 2026 @ 2:00 p.m.

Barnwell resident, Mr. Milton Harden FSAScot will speak on his 4th Great Grandfather, Col. Tarlton Brown, a Revolutionary Patriot.

Following Mr. Harden’s talk, please join us over at the Museum to enjoy Barnwell County History throughout our Museum. Light refreshments will be served.

Come out this weekend and enjoy the Barnwell Festival On the Round! Numerous vendors and fun competitions for all! Also, please checkout the displays all around the Circle downtown of flags honoring our Military personnel.

In observance of Black History Month, the Barnwell County Museum invites the public to come by and browse our literature and photos honoring African-American men and women from our local area. As a reminder, we are open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from noon until 4 pm.

Milton Harden, former chairman of the Barnwell County Museum and Historical Board, was elected a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland this past November. Founded in 1780, the Society is dedicated to researching, protecting, and promoting Scotland’s history and cultural heritage in a multidisciplinary approach.

We are so proud for you Milton. We all know how proud you are of your Scottish heritage.

The Barnwell County Museum and office will be closed Wednesday, December 24 and Christmas Day. We will reopen December 30.
