Woolaroc Museum & Wildlife Preserve

Woolaroc Museum & Wildlife Preserve A world-class art museum nestled on a 3,700-acre wildlife preserve in the rugged Osage Hills of Oklahoma. It's the most unique place in this country.’
(1606)

Founded in 1925 by oilman Frank Phillips, Woolaroc is a 3,700 acre working ranch that has a 50,000 square foot museum with a collection described by Christie’s of New York as “one of the finest collections of southwest art in the world” along with the original Lodge home and a large herd of bison, elk, longhorn cattle, scotch highland cattle and hundreds of deer. Woolaroc museum hosts an outstandi

ng collection of western art and artifacts, Native American material, and one of the finest collections of Colt firearms in the world. The name WOOLAROC is derived from three words—the woods, lakes and rocks that make up the beautiful Osage Hills of northeast Oklahoma where Woolaroc is located. The name was originally intended for the rustic Lodge ranch house, but it was so unique that it soon became the name for the entire Frank Phillips ranch. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Washington, D.C., and a NARM (North American Reciprocal Museum) member which allows members access to over 800 national museums for free. Will Rogers once said, 'When you are visiting the beauty spots of this country, don't overlook Frank Phillips' ranch and game preserve in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Our May Docent of the Month is Bryon Harris! Bryon was raised in Bartlesville and was a Phillips Petroleum employee for 21 years. He has also been a contractor for ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66 for another 17 years. Bryon became a docent in 2023 when he received a Woolaroc mailer seeking volunteers. His wife is also a volunteer at the Frank Phillips Home in town. His favorite memories of Woolaroc are going to company picnics at Clyde Lake when he was a child. Bryon still enjoys seeing the elk near the front gate and getting stuck in a bison traffic jam on his drive to the parking lot. Congratulations Bryon! Thank you so much for your time. We appreciate you very much!
