This summer we have made steady progress in our plan for the former school to be turned into apartments attached to the Waterman Center for the Arts. Not only has the funding application been submitted for the apartment development phase, but the design of the arts center space has been roughed out. It will have two spacious classrooms available for studio space, and the large cafeteria will have a performance area and modular fixtures to redesign and use the space in many different ways according to need. . Last summer we had our new entranceway and one bathroom installed, and a new roof was put on the cafeteria. Artists, we welcome you even at this early stage, as our next effort is to meet requirements for a certificate of occupancy. We are considering offering some open studio time in our north facing classroom. More details to come.
