Being a tourist starts in your own town. We were thrilled to be a part of Tourism Day at the Capitol this past week; joining various organizations both local and statewide to showcase the best things Louisiana has to offer. As one of the 9 museums under the Secretary of State, Nancy Landry, we were honored with her visit.

Happy 1 year anniversary to Joseph Ricci, our amazing Curator. It is hard to believe it has only been one year because of the great impact he has already made on the Mansion. He has completely elevated our visitor experience by bringing depth with new interpretive signage. On top of that he has curated and installed three exhibitions. Thank you, Joseph, for an incredible year!

Roux had a spectacular first morning at the Old Governor’s Mansion!

Author Julie Gerdes Becnel read her new book, Roux’s First Day, to St. James and Redesign students. This sweet story is all about being yourself, and students got to meet the author, learn about Roux’s journey, color, and play!

If your family missed today’s reading, don’t worry! Julie and book illustrator Cullen Bernard will be back for June’s First Free Sunday. Join us from 1–3 p.m. to hear the story, learn how to draw characters from the book, sing songs with Music Together, and experience a little swamp life.

We hope to see you there!
