Storehouse/Godly Art By Redonna Hendry
My name is Redonna Hendry. I am married to Van Hendry. We have two children, Ashlee and Austin, and a grandson Evan. I am from Stringer, Mississippi and recently moved to Little Rock, Arkansas. I was a teacher for 14 years. I am a Real Estate Broker and Insurance Agent. My hobbies are reading, writing and art.
Last year my art got anointed. It changed immediately. God gave me a talent and I give him all the honor and glory. All my pieces are inspired by God and each have a story to tell about his Word. I use my art as a way to reach others and share his word.
The Mountains of Blessings and Curses: It is based on Deuteronomy 27 and 28, when Joshua divided the tribes to live on these two mountains. The water in this picture represents the place of Joshua’s well and Jesus is the living water and leads us by the still waters in Psalms 23. The one sheep has left the herd and God always goes after the ones that are lost.
Desert of Tekoa: This is based on 2 Chronicles 20:20 where Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, is telling the people to have faith in God and his prophets and they would be successful. It is a lesson of being doers of the Word and not hearers only. (James 1:22) This is called the valley of blessing by the people of Judah. In this general area, Jesus met his threefold temptation and David spent a lot of time in this area escaping from Saul. Nathanael was one of the condemned infants of Herod’s slaughter, but he escaped here. The prophet Habakkuk was carried by angels to Babylon. Prophets met here to discuss divine things. The lion and lamb represent Jesus and that he is always with us even through our driest times in our lives. The wolf in sheep’s clothing is about spiritual warfare and being aware of false prophets.
Lion of Judah: Why was Jesus called the Lion of Judah? First we have to remember that Jesus was a Jew. In ancient times there were 12 tribes of Jewish people. Out of those 12 there was a tribe that the Jewish priest had to come from and a tribe where the Kings came from. Jesus was descendant of the tribe of the Kings, which was called Judah, thus the Lion of Judah.
Young Lion: We are made in God’s image. God is represented by the Lion in the bible and we are like young lions growing to be like the majestic lion. In Psalms 104:21, the young lion roar after their prey and seek their meat from God. We must be dependent upon God for training us up in the way that he would have us go. As Christians we must get off milk and seek to find the meat of instructions given to us in God’s Holy Word.
The Lion and the Lamb: The Lion is a symbol of courageous justice, whereas the Lamb symbolizes sacrificial role. This represents two aspects of the nature of Christ.
Spiritual Warfare with the Ram: This picture is based on Daniel 8 where the ram is represents the devil. He is reigning on the mountain now but he will be removed. Psalms 91 is to be used in Spiritual warfare for strength and courage. Jesus decided to show up in this picture and I did not intent ally paint the Jesus, angels, tomb or grim reaper. Can you find the face of Jesus and his shoulder, a tomb guarded by angels and the grim reaper behind the angels? I was just painting a ram on a mountain.
The Lord’s Prayer: The cloud is a blessing cloud that God wants to open the flood gates of heaven upon his people, if only if they will ask. Matthew 6: 9-13 We must learn how to pray and ask for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. As Christians, we are not asking God what he wants us to do in a mighty way. The demons are asking the devil what he wants done on earth and they are running rampant causing all kinds of evil. You can see demons in the hell of this picture just like we can see evil in our world today. The devil has taken the last verse of the Lord’s Prayer out of most translations: For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. The devil does not want us to know that we are given power and authority over evil.
The Potter: In Jeremiah 18, God wants us to mold and make us into his image to fulfill our purpose and destiny in life. We must be willing to fulfill his purpose and destiny and let him put us on the wheel of life to change us. This picture is very special to me because I feel so unworthy to be used by God as an artist. I know that I do not have the talent like so many artist, but I am willing to get out of my comfort zone and let him lead me down the paths that he would have me go. He is the artist and I am just a vessel for him to use. Everyone has gifts to be used by God. How do you see Jesus? I see Jesus as one that saw the beauty in everything. He used nature and everyday objects to explain biblical principles of life. I want to use my art to share God with the world.
The Eagle: The eagle represents power and strength. In Isaiah 40:29-31, He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might he increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. We must always keep our eyes upon God and claim his Word for us to fight and defeat the devil with all his attacks upon our lives. The eagle is very protective of his family and loyal just like God is to his children.
Bo***ge: (1 Peter 5:8) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (John 10:10) The thief does not come except to steal, kill and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly. The devil has God’s people in bo***ge and Jesus came to set his captives free. The Lord’s Prayer tells us to pray to be delivered from evil. Christians must learn how to be delivered from this bo***ge and experience the life that God intends for them to have. God tells us in his word to seek and you will find. Too many will not seek him to find understanding of the spiritual ream. In Ephesians 6:12, For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
