Last reveal before we close, and what a show these fourteen artists gave us. Two quiet notes to end on — an abstract sunset, and a father’s last months — saved for last on purpose.

Tomorrow’s the final day. Artist reception 1–3pm — the two Judge’s Awards presented, and the Viewer’s Choice winner announced.

Two pieces today, because both are the kind of work that needs room to sit with you.

One made from men’s dress shirts — the uniform of a certain kind of American power — quilted into the shape of a country built on land that was taken. One about rust, decay, and what it means to let something return to the earth. Bring time for these two.

Stitch and Resist closes in two days, September 20th, with an artist reception from 1–3pm.

Halfway through the run, and these three pieces are hitting exactly as hard as we hoped. Today’s theme is accountability — of institutions, of pipelines, of ourselves at the ballot box.

One more thing we’ve been sitting on: Shea Schachameyer’s “We Are All Connected: Shut Down Line 5” is one of this year’s two Judge’s Award 🎗️ winners, selected by judge Wanda Raimundi-Ortiz. Congratulations, Shea — this piece earned every bit of it.

The show’s been open two days — if you’ve been in already, thank you. If not, here’s a reason to make the trip: today’s pieces don’t soften anything, and we love them for it.

One artist’s response to family separation. One where nature reclaims a found vintage photograph while the people in it walk on unaware. One that just asks you to mind your business.

Stitch and Resist, through September 20. Bayfield, WI.

Stitch and Resist opens today at noon. Come feel it for yourself.

Fourteen artists. Twenty-two pieces. Quilts and fiber work that say things some people are still working up the nerve to say out loud — made instead with thread, over months, stitch by stitch. We are so proud to be the room that gets to hold this work.

We open today alongside the Bayfield Festival of Arts down at Memorial Park — if you’re already in town for that, we’re a short walk up. And we’re open for all nine days of Art Escape, through September 20th, closing with an artist reception September 20th from 1–3pm.

Come see it in person. Photos don’t do stitching justice.

Doors open tomorrow, and we are so ready.

Today’s three: a quilt built like a sheet of notebook paper, carrying the question “why didn’t anyone do anything to stop them”; a tribute stitched from an iconic image; and a piece about what’s at stake for the water up here.

Stitch and Resist opens tomorrow, September 12, the same weekend as the Bayfield Festival of Arts — and runs all nine days of Art Escape, through September 20.

Three days until opening, and this is where the show's title starts to show its teeth — a quilt built around the 19th Amendment, a piece about refusing to stay unseen, and an artist telling stories of devotion through the mundane. This is exactly the kind of work we built this show to hold.

And we've been waiting to share this: Katherine Waymire's "i won't stay INVISIBLE" is one of this year's two Judge's Award 🎗️ winners, selected by judge Wanda Raimundi-Ortiz. Congratulations, Katherine — so well earned.

Election season gives a lot of people a lot to say. This is one way to say it.
