This morning we crossed Lake Superior through the ice to visit artist Lance Wurst in his Madeline Island studio.
Lance is preparing new work for an upcoming exhibition at Island Gateway Gallery & Gathering, opening this June in Bayfield.
Stay tuned for a closer look at the paintings and to hear more about Lance Wurst.

✨ Hello, 2026 ✨

After a year of preparation, restoration, and dreaming, we’re excited to say:
Island Gateway Gallery & Gathering opens this year.

Our first event will be the *Dark Skies* gallery exhibit and sale, part of Bayfield’s Dark Skies Festival. We’re honored to be sponsors and supporters of a community celebration that brings together art, place, and care for the night skies we share.

And this is just the beginning.
Our first full gallery exhibition opens in May — we’ll share more in our next post.

❄️🌲 A moment of gratitude, on the solstice

As the shortest day passes, the sun is renewed and as winter settles in, we’re pausing to give thanks.

2025 was a year of transformation —
✨ rehabbing this historic building
✨ moving to Bayfield
✨ preparing the foundation for Island Gateway

Every space rebuilt, every plan drafted, every snowy day like this one brought us closer to what’s ahead.

We’re filled with excitement for 2026, but today — on the solstice — we’re wishing everyone rest, renewal, and quiet joy in the season of winter light.
