Throw Back Thursday! What began as a conversation with artists Shane Piltser () and Max Gonzales () of Do What You Love became something much bigger- a vibrant reflection of community, creativity, and possibility.

Over three days, Shane and Max transformed our PLAY floor with an interactive graffiti mural full of color, movement, and joy, which was revealed during the Falls Park Ribbon Cutting Celebration.

Installed in May 2023, the mural captures Neighborhood North’s mission to build community, spark imagination, and celebrate the beauty and potential of what the Tribune Building is becoming.

And the story continues this summer: Max will return to Neighborhood North to lead a Graffiti Art Camp for middle school teens. The artwork created during camp will be installed on the Tribune Building windows facing the alley, bringing even more color and creativity to the space until construction begins.

We had a fantastic time exploring the Rain Gardens with the 7th Grade Science classes at Beaver Area High School today. We led each class in designing and building clay rain gardens and discussing how they are used in urban areas for storm water mitigation. Students also explored when rain gardens work, and when they don’t.

What a wonderful, curious group of students! Thank you for inviting us to explore the science together!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

Children’s museums are more than places to play and learn — they are third spaces where families build connection, curiosity, confidence, and community together.

Through hands-on exploration, the arts, and shared experiences, children’s museums can support the emotional well-being of children and caregivers alike. They offer welcoming environments where children can express themselves, learn through play, and feel a sense of belonging..

Children’s museums also strengthen the larger community by creating spaces where neighbors gather, relationships grow, and families from different backgrounds can connect with one another. By supporting learning, creativity, and social connection, museums help build healthier, more connected communities for everyone.
