The Stevens-Buswell School is one of two historic buildings still owned by the Town of Bedford, New Hampshire. The school was built in 1921 as the first two-room school in town and was named to honor the memory of two men, Willis A. Stevens and Frank A Buswell, who died while serving their country during World War I. The school held Grades 1 through 6. When the school population of the town expand

ed beyond the limits of the building it served as both The Town Offices and the Police Department. In 1987 the new Town Office Building was built and in 1994 the Police Department moved to the new Safety Complex and the Stevens-Buswell School became the home of the Marconi Museum. When the museum closed in 2007 the building became vacant. In August 2009 a sub-committee of the Bedford Historical Society, The Friends of the Stevens-Buswell School was formed to save this beautiful, historic building from demolition.

As we work to open the doors of this long-awaited space, we're forming a nonprofit board to oversee operations and ensure the Center is a thriving, sustainable resource for our town. To do that right, we’re looking for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join the board.
