Pictures and words can't convey the feeling I get when I view a total solar eclipse. We drove four hours this morning from Dallas into Arkansas and shared the experience with great people at New Hope Church in Glenwood. This is a quick edit tonight of the corona during totality. More coming tomorrow after a good night's sleep.

I just finished my Florida birds photography workshop over the weekend. It will take me a while to go through the photos, I'm driving to Dallas for the eclipse on Monday. I did take time to process a fun shot of a tricolor heron taking flight in the early morning light.

Many of you know my sidekick Ron Lake, a friend and photographer who has done several European trips with me and is the trusted driver of my van on New York City excursions. Ron recently was diagnosed with cancer and is getting chemo and radiation treatments that have been rather rough, which is actually an understatement.

He’s maintaining his great sense of humor as much as he can but I know he could use some support from our photo community. Dropping him an email at [email protected] would be a great gesture.

Just like all of us going through Covid-19, Ron will get through this, but it is a hard fight. He’s chomping at the bit to get back in the van, driving through the streets of NYC and seeing how many things he can run over.
