🎨🌟ARTIST SPOTLIGHT🌟🎨
Nate Barcot

Nate Barcot is a young Honduran, Croatian, Vietnamese, and American artist from Houston, Texas. He has been recognized in many juried art shows, and in 2025, Nate won the National Gold Medal and a regional Gold Key in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition. After graduating from high school, he will attend The Cooper Union School of Art.

Nate's works are often made using acrylic paints, as well as hand-cut and shaped canvas frames and wood panels. Nate uses his art to express himself and his strong connection to his Vietnamese heritage by displaying tradition, food, and culture. In the painting “Nate and Bảo”, Nate explores the “what if” of what if he had grown up more involved in his Vietnamese culture. This painting shows his American self and the Vietnamese self he hopes to become, sitting side by side. While both are on their own individual canvas and frame, they both come together to form one piece and must depend on one another in order to stand.

Don't forget BAM Summer Programming Begins NEXT WEEK - Wednesday, June 3rd!

Magical Mapmakers

Young artists will design their own magical world by creating a unique fantasy map filled with rivers, mountains, towns, and imaginative details like dragons or sea creatures. Using creative techniques and colorful materials, students will bring their land to life while exploring storytelling, geography, and artistic design.

Ages 5-6: 9 a.m - 11 a.m.
Ages 7-12: 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
