A little sweet. A little spooky. And maybe… watching you. 👀

SCARY BABIES

What began with a few childhood dolls rediscovered in an attic—complete with permanently perky smiles and some moldy eyes—grew into a year-long collection of dolls, pieces, parts, photographs, and plenty of wonderfully unsettling inspiration.

Known for her photography, Stacie takes Scary Babies beyond the two-dimensional, giving these curious characters a physical space of their own in BAM’s 24/7 Display Window. And thanks to friends who heard about the project and wanted in, the family just kept growing.

Some of them even talk. So if you happen to pass by after dark and hear something… well, you’ve been warned.

Born from a vivid imagination, Hannah’s work brings together the familiar and the fantastical—from Pennsylvania bank barns to personified animals and visual expressions of feelings and ideas.

While each painting tells its own story, the collection is connected by the artist’s wonderfully rose-tinted view of the world—a place where everyday reality leaves plenty of room for imagination.

FRAGMENTS OF GRACE

Layered with memory, meaning, and the traces of everyday life, Fragments of Grace explores the sacred landscape of womanhood—tenderness and resilience, joy and grief, creativity and care.

Through vibrant painted-paper collages, Amy Frank weaves together maps, handwritten notes, book pages, sheet music, personal keepsakes, and other collected fragments. Many of the works are created over unfinished oil paintings left by her beloved Irish-Catholic grandmother, allowing two generations of women to create together across time.

Inspired by the Blessed Mother and the Divine Feminine, Amy’s figures celebrate the quiet grace found in nurturing, creating, connecting, and carrying our stories forward.

At its heart, Fragments of Grace reminds us that we, too, are beautifully assembled from the people, places, memories, and experiences that shape us. 💚🌸

What happens when little artists look closely at the world around them?

Inspired by BAM’s This Land Is Your Land exhibition, our newest Makery activity invites children to explore the colors, shapes, and layers of the landscape using something wonderfully simple—paint swatches!

Tear, cut, layer, and glue to create a field, a forest, a backyard, a favorite view…or a place completely from your imagination. ✂️🌳

Stop by the Makery at the Museum Children’s Space and create your own Layers of the Land landscape. As always, the Makery is free and open to all!

ON BEING SEEN

Through striking encounters with creatures both immense and small, photographer Christine Gambino captures the instant her subjects become aware of the human watching them. Curiosity, caution, defiance, vulnerability—each gaze seems to ask us to consider who is really observing whom.

From elephants and polar bears to zebra, whale sharks, and mantis shrimp, On Being Seen invites us to look beyond the photograph and imagine life from the other side of the lens.

Across deserts, mountains, coastlines, and remote corners of the globe, Cynthia Harris captures sweeping landscapes marked by something small—a figure, a structure, a subtle sign that humans have been there.

Photographed across six continents, A Touch of Human asks us to consider our place within the natural world: How large should our presence be, and what does a meaningful relationship with the landscape look like?

Celebrating Our Nation’s 250th Anniversary

The land holds our stories—of those who worked it, cared for it, built communities upon it, and preserved it for those who would come next.

Presented by the Farmland Preservation Artists, This Land Is Your Land brings together works inspired by the farms, fields, forests, and rural landscapes that define our region and our nation.

As we commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, the exhibition invites us to look closely at the land around us—not only for its beauty, but for the history it carries and the role we each play in its future.

Come celebrate the landscapes we call home.
