We are saddened to learn of Ken’s passing. He had a great deal of influence on so many of us He’s been our mentor for 30 years. Luckily my Brother and I got to spend a day with him last month. His legacy will live on in our hearts and in every restoration we do. Thank you Ken.

It is with extreme sadness we tell you we lost a legend last night. Ken Soderbeck passed away at the age of 90. He mentored/taught so many of us and was extremely talented. I swear there was nothing he could not do. Whenever Andy encountered a problem he could not solve, he would call Ken and have his answer. Many of us have shared a meal at the elephant barn in Jackson and South St. We will miss his wisdom, his calm manner and his great talent. He leaves behind his wife Agnes and step-daughter Gail. There is now a big hole in the fire engine world.

Note from Randolph (Randy) Mantooth and Kevin Tighe: Today we launched the Kickstarter for Into the Unknown.

This story has been decades in the making, and now the film is finally complete.

Now comes the final challenge: raising the funds to bring this story to audiences around the world. To thank our supporters, we’re some items we know fans will love, including many from my (Randy’s) personal collection!

For us, this has always been personal. We know how much paramedics carry, and how much of that the public never sees. Before this campaign even went live, first responders were already asking for the link so they could support us and pass it around their departments.

That told us something important: this story belongs to the people who live it.

The LA County Fire Museum is proud to support Into the Unknown, a documentary about paramedics and the realities of the job. The film is complete, and the Kickstarter is now live to help bring it to audiences around the world. f you want to help us get this important film out into the world, please click the link below and donate.

By the end of the week it will be in The LA County Fire Museum in Bellflower California. Today it is being loaded on to an enclosed truck for the long journey South. More info to come.
