WWU Western Gallery

WWU Western Gallery Curator of WWU's visual art collections, unique international, faculty, and student exhibitions.

In additional to year-round free public exhibitions of art, the Western Gallery Director acts as curator of the university's visual art collections. Primary areas are 19th and 20th century prints and drawings, including the Helen Loggie Archives and the Leese Collection. In 2010 the gallery received over 175 works in various media by Northwest artists, a gift of Safeco Insurance, a member of the L

iberty Mutual Group, and the Washington Art Consortium. Selections from these works will be placed on public view in the main lobbies of the Performing Arts Center. The Chair Collection focuses on this type of 20th century furniture created by international designers. The Outdoor Sculpture Collection is a nationally famous, public art collection displayed throughout the entire campus.

THIS WEEK: Join us at the Western Gallery for the first Perishable Goods Artist Talk event. 🍐✨

Facilitated by Western Gallery interns, two of the featured artists from the exhibition will be discussing the motivations behind their work and their experiences in creating it. We would love to see you there! 💫

WHERE: Western Gallery (Fine Arts 124)
WHEN: Tuesday, May 26
4:30 PM: Artist Audrey Lee will be interviewed by intern Skyler Cooney.
5:00 PM: Artist Ray Murphy will be interviewed by intern Sara Kirsten Waywell.

HOW MUCH: Free to attend! Daytime parking is available for purchase through pay stations and the WWU website prior to 4:30 PM, after which it is complimentary.

Perishable Goods features this year’s thesis work from WWU’s Bachelor of Fine Arts students. 🧑‍🎨

The exhibition is available for viewing in the Western Gallery from May 20 through June 13. Hours are Monday-Friday 10-4, Saturdays 12-4. Admission is always free. 🎉

Have you heard from any little birds about the upcoming Western Gallery exhibition? 🐦

Western Washington University’s Bachelor of Fine Arts students have been preparing all year to produce a body of work, and they will be presenting the results of their artistic endeavors in the exhibition “Perishable Goods.” The exhibition will be on view beginning May 20, so get it on your calendar! 🗓️

In the meantime, our public sculpture collection is always available for enjoyment across WWU’s campus.
