Sha’Nilyuah Ray, a 2022 graduate of Humphreys County High School, Valedictorian of her class received a $1,000.00 Museum Scholarship. Her plan was to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Fast forward 2026, Congratulations to Sha’Nilyuah, she fulfilled her goal and received her RN Degree in Nursing from the MS University for Women. We are so proud of you and we pray that you will have a successful career.

July 4, 2026, Humphreys County Cultural Museum welcomed the Robbie Alexander Family. They visited the museum as a tribute to their deceased mother, Lolee Hunter celebrating the 20th anniversary of her death. Mrs. Lolee Hunter is the sister of the beloved Boosie Aline Hunter who was a Warrior of the Struggle for Civil Rights in Humphreys County.
They were happy to see that the museum has a display of Mrs. Adline “Boosie” Hunter.
Mrs. Lolee lived her early life on Bellwood and in Belzoni on Hayden Street. Her primary gift was her love for cooking. Lolee worked as a chef or primary cook at Jack Anderson Cafe and Taxi Stand on Jackson Street. She went on to serve many famous people during her career as a cook. Special thanks to the family for sharing such great history and for including the museum on your itinerary for this special occasion.

Saturday, May 23, 2026, Humphreys County Cultural Museum welcomed the Humphreys County High School Class of 1986 to tour the museum. They were super excited to see all of the artifacts and exhibits on display. They left a donation of $500.00 for our scholarship fund in which we are very grateful. We thoroughly enjoyed the Class of 1986 and look forward to future visits.
