Calling All Dancers
This is based off of the Indigenous men's traditional dancer. When a traditional dancer has the need to blow his whistle, he blows his whistle at the drum for a song in which the singers honor the eagle whistle with a favorite song known to most throughout powwow country. There could be one, two, or maybe even three traditional dancers who blow their whistle one right after the other. I was once at a powwow where five whistles were blown where the dancing arena was filled with dancers all of all ages shoulder to shoulder, similar to that of a grand entry with over a thousand dancers. Sometimes when a traditional dancer decides to blow his whistle at a drum where only the drum keeper is present by himself. The drum keeper has to start the song until all the other singers come rushing in from wherever like a stampede of raging bulls, because most are built like that, some with the best voices known to Indian Country. Maybe one was waiting in line for his indian taco or chili cheese fries with a lemonade, or a couple others snagging nearby or on the other side of the arena, or even getting yelled at by their ole lady. Whatever they are doing they gotta drop everything and hustle back to the drum to honor the dancer and his whistle. After the whistle blows and the song starts, all the Dancers come out to enjoy a dance.
