A New Show Springs to Life at The Space In-Between . . .

Winter gives way to spring at the Space In-Between, with a dazzling collection of colorful pastels by Maureen McKinley and Susan Piper.

Soft pastel art is created with sticks of pure, powdery pigment held together by a binder, which is drawn and blended on a textured surface, creating layered, dreamy images saturated with vibrant color.

You can enjoy Maureen’s and Susan’s work any Monday or Wednesday evening from 5:30-6:30 pm. To schedule a viewing at your convenience, just leave a message at 269-861-0030.

Celebrate Valentine's Day with Art for the Heart

Make The Space In-Between your first stop on a Valentine's Day evening out. From 4-8 pm, we're featuring a special showing of our gorgeous water-lily paintings by prize-winning artist Alli Farkas, accompanied by a complimentary selection of premium chocolates, wine, and cheese.

Alli's canvases will transport you to serene waterways filled with radiant color - you'll feel the sun on your cheeks and hear the lilting whirr of dragonflies. It's Art for the Heart, and everyone is welcome.

You'll find the Space In-Between at 196 Water Street in Benton Harbor's historic Arts District; the entrance is adjacent to the building's colorful mural.

You can also enjoy Alli's show Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30-6:30 pm through February 28th. To schedule a viewing at your convenience, please leave a message at 269-861-0030.

We’re Combining Water, Wood, and Stone at The Space In-Between

The fall show at The Space In-Between is a delightful mélange of natural and man-made forms, featuring oil and watercolor paintings of the Lake Michigan shoreline by David Baker, and photography of Benton Harbor’s streets and architecture by John Gatto.

David Baker’s fanciful Faerie Ring watercolors depict small arrangements of forms created by unknown artists, all discovered while walking the shoreline. David’s oil paintings of lake shore landscapes are graphically powerful, with deep yet nuanced colors that invite you to step into them.

John Gatto’s photography shows that the city of Benton Harbor is full of aesthetic surprises, history, and vision: all you need to do is open your eyes.

Browse the show Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 pm, or schedule a tour at your convenience by leaving a message at 269-861-0030.

Making Cyanotypes at the Children's Art Fair!

Susan Plee, the exhibiting artist at The Space In-Between, spent Saturday showing kids how to make cyanotypes at the Benton Harbor Children's Art Fair. With stencils in hand and adequate sunshine, the kids had great fun creating their own artistic prints.

Susan has her own selection of cyanotypes on display right now at The Space In-Between, and it's a show you don't want to miss. The gallery is open for browsing Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30-6:30 pm, or you can schedule a tour at your convenience by leaving a message at 269-861-0030.

The Space In-Between will be Open during the Children’s Art Fair!

Our current artist, Susan Plee, has graciously volunteered to run an outdoor cyanotype workshop (weather permitting) for the kids, which will be terrific fun!

Bring your kids, make some great cyanotype prints – it’s easy! – and take a look at Susan’s work in the gallery.
