It's Hispanic Heritage Month, a month-long celebration that takes place between September 15th – October 15th and highlights the diverse traditions, languages, music, food, self-expression, and communal values within Hispanic and Latin American culture.

Here at Crystal Bridges, we celebrate artists within the community that share their experiences and personal narratives through their work like artist Consuelo Jimenez Underwood. Using fibers, Jimenez Underwood aims to weave common threads of history. Born of Mexican and Huichol descent, Jimenez Underwood draws on her upbringing near the U.S.-Mexico border to cross intellectual borders in her work. In Cara Cara Flag, the border cuts across a new banner, revealing an arbitrary division of the U.S. and Mexico. Jimenez Underwood depicts a caracara bird in the unbroken white center. This species inhabits both countries emphasizing its ability to freely traverse either side. Consuelo Jimenez Underwood has stated how her work demonstrates the “interconnectedness of societies, insisting on beauty in the struggle, and celebrating the notion of seeing this world through [her] own lens.”

Three words, written more than two centuries ago, still ask something of us. In "We the People (Black Version)", Nari Ward forms the familiar words from hanging shoelaces, allowing the phrase to emerge—and nearly disappear—before our eyes, transforming a familiar declaration into something more open-ended: an invitation to consider belonging, citizenship, and the meaning of “we.”

Today, on Constitution Day, the question remains as resonant as the words themselves: Who are “the people”?

Happy Birthday, Grandma Moses! 🎂🎈

Born September 7, 1860, Anna Mary Robertson Moses found the beauty in everyday life and turned it into some of America's most beloved folk paintings. She spent the majority of her life in rural New York and Virginia working as a housekeeper, farmer, and mother, occasionally painting or embroidering in her spare time. In 1940, at the age of 80, she stepped tentatively into the limelight with her first solo exhibition.

This week, we're celebrating her legacy with the opening of a new exhibition, “Grandma Moses: A Good Day's Work,” debuting September 12 at Crystal Bridges. Join us for the free opening celebration this Saturday with a day of artmaking, storytelling, music, and hands-on experiences inspired by one of America’s most beloved artists.

Opening October 9, 'Nature Adorned: The Artistry of Tiffany & Co. and the American Imagination' brings treasures from The Tiffany Archives into dialogue with the Crystal Bridges collection, tracing nearly two centuries of creativity, craftsmanship, and a fascination with nature.

Jewelry and gemstones are presented alongside paintings, books, minerals, and sculpture to explore the natural world as both inspiration and material. From flora and fauna to rare gemstones mined across the country, the focus exhibition reveals how Tiffany & Co. transformed America’s landscapes and natural riches into enduring objects of beauty.

Highlights include the 27.21-carat Arkansas Diamond, George Paulding Farnham’s naturalistic enamel designs, and Jean Schlumberger’s ‘Hedges and Flowers’ necklace and iconic ‘Bird on a Rock’ creations.

Art Fair returns to Crystal Bridges on Oct. 3 – 4 for a weekend of art, creativity, shopping, and community.

More than 80 artists from across the country have been selected, including seven teen artists and seven collegiate artists, to showcase their work. Explore art spanning a variety of mediums including ceramics, painting, jewelry, glass, sculpture, textiles, wood, photography, mixed media, and more.

"Where's the Infinity Room?"
It's one of the most frequently asked questions at Crystal Bridges.

Yayoi Kusama, who passed away on August 14, broke barriers and transformed contemporary art through her playful approach to painting, sculpture, and installation. Known around the world for her signature polka dots and Infinity Rooms, Kusama left a lasting mark.

Kusama's work is featured across our collection from the whimsical flowers found along the Orchard Trail, to the floating orbs of “Narcissus Garden,” to the iconic Infinity Room, “My Heart is Dancing into the Universe.” Her body of work with messages of love, peace, and connection will continue to inspire wonder for years to come.
