Happy April! I’ve been busy setting up my Spring Garden so a little less finished Art works. But here is a recap of what I did this past month.
Let me know if I should start showing pieces that are Work In Progress (W.I.P.’s) or do you all prefer seeing the finished products?
Also please Message me for any questions, suggestions, and Commissions.
Till next time, thanks for seeing things from my Vantage Point.

This time I decided I wanted to practice conveying background, mid ground, and foreground. Using the techniques that things loose definition at a distance and also have more cool tones in color. Put in a tree and this time a bird of prey.

I’m glad that Spring is almost here. I’m ready for warmer weather. Just wish the weather would make up its mind about the temperature. But more animals are starting to wake and return. Saw more birds on the power lines recently and thought I would do an impression of them for the occasion. I find minimalism very challenging. Beautiful, but challenging. I had to give color to the sky. Just feels weird if I don’t give the scene a “fullness.” I will have to keep practicing this mindset.

This little painting came with a twist in my practice. Getting better with my color gradients and water to pigment ratios. But I decided I wanted to try to make clouds in the sky with a new method, dabbing at the paper with a paper towel. I liked it very much at first. But then I decided I want to add depth to my clouds. And it just didn’t look right. Lol well in my opinion if I don’t tend to like something in a particular practice it gets turned into a tree. I don’t know why I like trees so much but there you have it. And now I like this little painting.

Back to basics with this piece. Also challenging myself to try a more minimalist approach. I like how the color gradient is much smoother than I’ve achieved before. And the contrast of colors I find quite calming. I do like the night sky. Particularly in Winter. Seems like I can always see more stars during the winter months.

As requested some time back here is my impression of a Blue Catfish. Even though I have never caught one myself I know from friends and family that they are a popular sporting fish to catch. Otherwise, I know that they are primarily nocturnal, bottom dwelling, omnivores.
This painting is my first A.C.E.O. (Art Cards, Editions, and Originals). It’s the size of a standard trading card (2.5 inch x 3.5 inch). It was really fun painting something so small.
Till next time, thanks for taking a look at my Vantage Point.

I’m pretty happy with this piece but feel that my shadow lines need more work to line up with the focal point out in the distance.

While out in the garden I got another idea for a scene for my “Cozy Frog” series. But this one isn’t that “Cozy.” You may have noticed in previous scenes that there is a predator present that the frogs are unaware of. This time the frogs are in hiding waiting for the predator to leave. This is just a quick sketch I did yesterday. Hope to do a full scene of it soon.
