In 1895 my great great grandfather Ayres, built the brick building now an historic landmark in Berlin. My great grandfather and his brother, operated a general store where the tea room currently exists. My great aunt studied how to construct hats in Philadelphia and where The Greyhound An Indie Bookstore resides was a millinery in the early 1900’s. Baked Desserts Cafe’ was the office. Step back into time and savor how my ancestors appreciated their customers and generations later the tradition continues today.

Berlin is thriving. Merchants work together and are supportive. The Greyhound Bookstore in its infancy has been a success. Our only regret is that we did not open sooner. Thanks to all our customers for keeping Indie alive and well. I love my hometown and visitors marvel on the beauty that everyone has so diligently created. We are small town Americana, that I remember living and growing up on Powellton Avenue. I glance out the window on 9 South Main and see families, strollers, and dogs. Does it get any better? Please shop local and keep Berlin a beautiful, historic destination.
