Bethesda Fine Art, Gallery Assistant

Bethesda Fine Art is a contemporary art gallery in downtown Bethesda, featuring paintings, prints and works on paper by major 20th century artists. We are seeking a part-time assistant to help with day-to-day gallery administration. The position requires a commitment of 3-4 days/week, from 11-3, plus occasional weekends/special events. Hourly pay.

Great opportunity for graduate students or recent graduates in Art/Art History or those interested in Art Management.

Strong computer skills are necessary (Word, Excel, Photoshop)

Customer skills and interest in contemporary art a plus.

Job Responsibilities:

- Maintaining gallery website and other arts websites to create visibility.

- Marketing and public outreach, including communication via email, mail, phone, creation of invitations for shows and press releases, etc.

- Participating in and organizing occasional receptions and gallery events as well as helping in set up and clean up.

- Day-to-day maintenance of the gallery. Greeting walk-ins and appointments.

- Gallery Administration including answering phone calls, filing, organizing artist's artwork, etc.
