The museum is located at the corner of Knox and Park Streets in Bishop Hill. It is open 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily from May 1st to Oct. 31st each year.

This weekend,a part of Henry County Historical Society is being displayed at the Geneseo Quilt Show at the community center in Geneseo! This quilt is from the late 1800’s and is signed by those who made it from the Geneseo Odd Fellows Auxiliary!

Today we celebrated Henry County’s Bi-Centennial with the dedication of a new time capsule that will be installed in a vault under the newest staircase on the North Side of the courthouse! Erin Knackstedt, County Administrator; Kippy Breeden, County Board Chairman and Kelly Wolf, Tourism Director gave remarks about finding the 1954 capsule and the commissioning of a new capsule for future generations to discover! Several entities gave items to put into the capsule giving future generations a glimpse of life in Henry County in 2025!

We had an awesome Annual Meeting yesterday held at the Old Colony School in Bishop Hill! We elected and installed our officers and directors for the current year! Our program speaker was our newest board member Steve Kastorff, a local author, historian and retired educator! Looking forward to another exciting bi-centennial year at the museum this season, make sure to visit and see our displays and stories!

Henry County Museum had the honor of hosting the monthly meeting of the Burns Boosters 4-H Club this evening! What a wonderful group of young people gaining experience in leadership and service to our greater community! So proud of their professionalism and decorum in the business portion and the excitement of exploring the museum treasures!
If I understood correctly, this group has existed since 1934, one of the oldest clubs in Illinois! Great job guys and gals!

I’ve been going through pictures of my trips to Sweden and writing about what I saw and experienced as I retraced the steps of my heritage! Pictures include the torpet that my grandfather was born at, the wood stove in the kitchen, fireplace for home heat, the wedding crown my great grandmother wore at her wedding, and the family who occupied the home after my great grandparents moved to another torpet on the manor farm. Henrik and I also shared FIKA in the tiny kitchen!
