Come check out our Halloween display at the JCHS Historic Ford Garage History & Research Center in Black River Falls! This spooky seasonal scene features a beautiful old Surrey buggy generously donated by the Bruce Thayer family.

Here's a fun piece of history: this Surrey buggy is said to have been used in a film production of Oklahoma! How exciting to have a piece of transportation history featured in our Halloween display!

From the Jackson County Historical Society Archives....

This early 1912 photograph captures Main Street looking east from South First Street toward the river. Rail sand fill is being hauled down Main Street as rebuilding efforts continue following the devastating 1911 flood.

Among the first two buildings in the first block of Main Street rebuilt were 44 Main Street on the right and 19 Main Street on the left, marking an early stage in the community’s recovery and the rebuilding of its downtown business district.
