Virginia mineral resources have a long history. There was early mining for gold and iron before the discovery of much richer deposits elsewhere in the U.S. This exhibit was developed by an undergraduate using specimens from the Museum's large collection of Virginia material.

The OmniGlobe projects global datasets, such as weather and plate tectonics, on a sphere. Newly upgraded in December 2017, it is brighter than ever before.
