It's the end of an era. 🦥

MegaJeff, our beloved cardboard companion, will be leaving the Museum this Friday, April 25. A huge thank you to our friends at the Indiana Geological and Water Survey who helped bring MegaJeff back to life and let us hang out with him for a while. Check out their Facebook or Instagram to see more of their amazing work!

Access the digital MegaJeff exhibition here: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/93668000f4794b1f8f3dd0fe19ae32f6

Or drop in during regular museum hours to see him before he's gone.

We'll miss you Jeff!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Spring at the Museum this April. The cake was delicious, the florals were delightful, and the company made it all worth it. We loved sharing our space with you!

Don't miss this very special exhibition, developed in partnership with the Center for Underwater Science - Indiana University and the Dominican Republic's Ministerio de Cultura!

Last artifact sneak-peak in the countdown because we’re only TWO DAYS away from the exhibit grand opening!!!

Today you might keep your spare coins in a piggy bank, but did you know they had something similar in the 16th century? This artifact is called a money box! It was recovered from Punta Espada, a 1550s shipwreck we have been actively researching in the Dominican Republic⚓️

We hope to see you all this Saturday, from 1-4pm at the IU Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology! Where you can learn about the money box and so much more🌊

(Plus, there will be and available👀)

Our exhibitions are BERRY impressive 🫐✨

Ever wonder how a local dietary staple becomes a global "superfood" sensation? Our current exhibition, "Locally Based, Globally Relevant," dives into the story of the Açaí Berry and its journey from the Amazon to the world stage. But the story doesn't stop at the berry.

Curated by IU Professor and Tyler Prize-winner Eduardo S. Brondizio and located in our North Lobby, this exhibit presents six different pathways through which Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities understand, protect, and live in harmony with nature.

Come see how these local traditions offer a blueprint for our global future!

Dancing, crafts, AND tacos? Sign us up! 💃🌮

Come experience the vibrant traditions of Mexico with a performance by Ballet Folklórico de IU! Following the performance, dancers will invite guests to join in and learn a routine themselves. No experience required!

Plus, the first 40 visitors will receive a FREE $5 voucher for Pili's Party Taco, with food available for purchase for all guests.

Enjoy a variety of other free activities as well, including DIY alebrije charm-making, mosaic crafting, and object horoscopes (featuring material culture from the Museum’s collections). And as always, Museum galleries and exhibitions will be open for the duration of the event. Don’t miss out!
