🎥 We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with local high school student Madison Moore for an interview about all things Historic Bluffton Foundation!

Our Events Manager, Victoria Hawley, and one of our wonderful docents, Patte Bahl, spent some time talking about the history of the Heyward House, the Foundation’s mission, the importance of preservation, and yes… even a few of the stories and legends surrounding the house’s reported hauntings. 👻🏡

A big thank you to Madison for her thoughtful questions and interest in Bluffton’s history. It’s always encouraging to see the next generation helping share the stories that make our community so special.

Tune in below and take a listen! ⬇️

Hurricane season officially begins today, June 1, and runs through November 30.

Living in the Lowcountry, we know the forecast can change in a blink. While meteorologists and other weather experts are predicting a quieter season this year, it only takes one storm to remind us why preparation matters.

Now is a good time to check your emergency supplies, review your family's evacuation plan, make sure you know your evacuation zone, and stay informed before a storm!

As a community built along the May River, we've weathered our fair share of storms. A little preparation now can make all th difference later.

The Town of Bluffton has put together helpful hurricane preparedness resources, evacuation information, and storm planning guides here:

🚧 A Quick Heads-Up for Our Visitors and Neighbors 🌳

Beginning June 1, 2026, Martin Family Park, located next door to the Heyward House Museum, will be temporarily closed for approximately four weeks while the Town completes turf restoration and maintenance work.

If you’re planning a visit to the museum or attending the Bluffton Farmers Market, don’t worry, the market will continue as scheduled. During the closure, vendors will be relocated to the parking lot area, Green Street, and a portion of Lawrence Street.

Please note that Lawrence Street between Boundary Street and the public restrooms will be closed to vehicle traffic from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on market days. Businesses and destinations along Lawrence Street, including the Heyward House Museum, will remain accessible via Calhoun Street.

We appreciate everyone’s patience as this beloved community space receives a little extra care and attention. A healthy park today means many more years of picnics, playtime, community gatherings, and Farmers Market memories tomorrow. 🌿

Thank you so much to everyone who came out and donated yesterday!

🩸 Right now, someone fighting leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, or another form of blood cancer is depending on blood donors they will likely never meet.

Every 3 minutes, someone in the United States is diagnosed with a blood cancer. While these diseases affect people of all ages, leukemia is the most common cancer diagnosed in children and teens, and lymphoma remains one of the most common cancers among young adults. Many patients rely on ongoing blood and platelet transfusions throughout treatment.

Blood cannot be manufactured. It can only come from people willing to give.

That is why the Historic Bluffton Foundation is proud to partner with The Blood Connection for a community blood drive:

📅 Thursday, May 28
⏰ 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
📍 Bluffton United Methodist Church
101 Calhoun Street, Bluffton, SC

❤️ One donation can save up to THREE lives.
💵 Each donor will receive $40 in donor rewards.

Schedule your appointment here:
