On May 17, the Pennsylvania Military Museum had the honor of hosting the 28th Infantry Division for their annual Memorial Ceremony. To honor the history and lineage of the 28th Infantry Division, the Friends of the Pennsylvania Military Museum and museum staff created a special exhibit featuring six soldiers of the Pennsylvania National Guard who sacrificed their lives in service to our nation:
• Lieutenant Andrew McClintock, 5th Pennsylvania — Battle of Brandywine, September 11th, 1777
• Corporal Joseph Esler, 72nd Pennsylvania — Battle of Gettysburg, July 2nd, 1863
• Private John Brady Jr., 10th Pennsylvania — Spanish-American War, July 31st, 1898
• Private Fred Simmons, 112th Infantry — Battle of Fismes, declared Missing in Action, September 1st, 1918
• Tech Sergeant Lester Goodermote, 103rd Combat Engineer Battalion — Battle of Hosingen, December 16th, 1944
• Specialist Chad Edmundson, 112th Infantry Regiment — Operation Iraqi Freedom, May 27th, 2009
